This is interesting. Between movies news sites The Wrap and Deadline it’s being said that Star Trek reboot helmer J.J. Abrams is set to direct Star Wars Episode VII.

Of course, with most of these kind of reports it’s best to stay cautiously optimistic until Lucasfilm gives their official word on the matter, but would this be such a bad thing? We’ll see either way. Episode VII is set for a 2015 release with a script written Michael Arndt who is the only name officially attached to the film.

And, obviously, we’ll be keeping an eye out for further developments.

Updated: It’s now confirmed. J.J. Abrams is in fact directing the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
