Is Marvel Going To Kill Deadpool?

No. Of course they aren’t. But that doesn’t mean they don’t want you to think that maybe they are!

In a recent press release (which you can find after the cut), Marvel put out some new information regarding the upcoming fiftieth issue of Deadpool, written by Daniel Way and illustrated by Carlo Barberi. The issue picks up as Deapdool’s battle with Evil Deadpool (the result of various old severed Deadpool limbs getting stuck together) comes to an end, and once again finds Deadpool at the doors of his beloved Death. The issue promises ramifications galore, a dramatic change for the worse, and the inclusion of the surviving members of X-Force.

The issue itself is simply titled “DEAD”, and is something Marvel has been teasing since San Diego Comic Con. It’s still too early to tell what exactly the “dead” element will be — perhaps the book is ending, or Daniel Way’s run is coming to an end? Or perhaps Deadpool is actually going to die? The last one seems a tad bit unbelievable given his uncanny healing powers, but you never know. Odder curve balls have been thrown.

Either way, look for the death of Deadpool — or something — in February of next year. For the full press release from Marvel, please check after the jump.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
