Is that… the Power Battery? (Yes… Yes, It Is)

While it doesn’t air until Tuesday, some of you might have heard the news coming out of the Spike Awards this past weekend: Green Lantern won for most anticipated movie, beating out all three upcoming Marvel Avengers films. Of course, what really made the situation of note is that Ryan Reynolds arrived… in a Power Battery.

Of course, no sooner did that happen than a picture of the actual Power Battery appear online, straight from the film. It’s definitely different though. Some of you are probably familiar with the Power Battery, but this new movie version is much more… techno-y. In fact, it looks like somebody stole it out of the Matrix. I’m almost expecting Abin Sur’s ship to crash and to see him crawl out of the wreckage in black leather with a trenchcoat and sweet shades. This redesigned battery does seem to fit in with the general “update” the movie is putting to the costume and the overall appearances, with Ryan’s controversial new suit as seen on Entertainment Weekly.

I’m not entirely sure why DC is changing so much of what it had been doing right in the books, but far be it from me to understand how this works. The only thing that matters is that the movie is good, right? So take a look at the battery and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
