In March 2011, we reported that it looked like Bendis was bringing back ROM, as he had noted that a fallen Spaceknight would be referenced in an upcoming issue of “Avengers.” It was confirmed later that this wasn’t ROM but a generic Spaceknight in the pages of “Avengers” #12.1, the issue that acts as a prelude to the upcoming “Age of Ultron” storyline.
Today, Comic Book Resources posted an exclusive preview of “Age of Ultron” #2, which features this page:

Which features this:

ROM? What are you doing there, buddy? And what does this have to do with Hasbro filing for a new trademark for ROM?
There are a bunch of notable faces in that page, for the record. Nightcrawler is in there, as well as other dead characters like Xavier, the Sentry and Ares. “Age of Ultron” has been in the works for quite some time so they could just be leftovers from whenever this page was originally made. That ROM Polaroid could just be a throwaway Easter egg.
Or maybe not. After all, after denying that ROM was in “Avengers” #12.1 due to rights issues, Bendis did remark that he would use ROM the second that he could. You never know.
