Is the Marvel Movie Universe Expanding?

With a whole universe full of characters that are beloved by certain niche audiences amidst the comic world, Marvel has a lot of potential film franchises that they could launch. The only problem is, even with characters like Luke Cage, Doctor Strange and Power Pack having potential audiences, they still are too risky for Marvel and even their parent company Disney to want to develop as features. The potential reward is there, but the risk is too great for even massive companies like Disney/Marvel to pursue.

Enter Latino Review and their report today about well trusted Disney/Marvel sources that are saying these properties are going to be developed as ten minute introductory short films to build hype and the universe. In my eyes, this will allow characters like Black Panther or Iron Fist to have a quick introduction to the world that will make them viable team members on The Avengers in the future or would act as a staging ground for other feature film development.

We’ll see if this actually comes to pass, but I can tell you what, the first character they should do this with is Hawkeye. Get Jeremy Renner in that suit, give us an origin and make him all the more interesting for Whedon’s upcoming Avengers film. Sign me up for that!
