After reporting the news of the upcoming “Guarding the Globe” ongoing and noting that Image’s FCBD offering would offer a teaser of the upcoming series, we happened to wander over to the FCBD website just to get a refresher of what was coming out since it’s only two weeks away. It turns out that there is a book that hasn’t been properly (or “officially?”) announced — at least, not to any extent that we’ve seen. Let us tell you about it now. (Heck, the news of “Revival” was broken this way, too.)
You know Mike Allred, right? Super famous comic creator responsible for the iconic character Madman and his extended universe, featuring the super team the Atomics? Surely you all have the two Madman hardcovers Gargantua and Atomica by now! Well, it looks like Allred’s creations will be returning to comics in a new series entitled “It-Girl and the Atomics.” A quick Google search reveals that the book is written by Jamie S. Rich with illustrations by Mike Norton (who is also doing the new Image series “Revival” with Tim Seeley), with colors by Allen Passalaqua and letters by Crank and Mike Allred himself overseeing the entire project.
We don’t know if it is an ongoing or a mini (we hope ongoing) now know it’s an ongoing thanks to confirmation from Jamie, but we do know this and it stands worth noting: we are totally excited for this, absolutely and 100%.
I guess the only thing better than us telling you about “It-Girl’s” series would be us showing you some of it, so check behind the cut for two preview pages pulled from the Free Comic Book Day preview online, which you can download yourself if you’re so inclined. The series comes out in August, and you can get your first look at more in the upcoming FCBD offering from Image.
