The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog just confirmed what was basically a formality at this point (or at least it was assuming he wasn’t insane): Chris Evans will play Captain America.
Following the news that Evans had been offered the role on Friday, Evans took the weekend to mull it over. Apparently that was all he needed, as the deal came together quickly today. Evans will be locked into a nine picture deal (from what I understand), which likely includes potential Cap sequels and Avengers films.
To me, this is a solid choice. Typically Evans is good if the film is good. Here’s hoping Joe Johnston and the screenwriting duo of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely do their jobs well, as I believe we’re on our way to another fine Marvel film.
