A while ago on the site, we took a look at 365 Samurai and a Bowl of Rice, a great little book put out by Dark Horse from J. P. Kalonji. The book followed the adventure of a samurai monk named Ningen on a year-long quest, covering various seasons of his life up until the climactic ending. Now, Kalonji will be returning to the adventure of Ningen for a new standalone/side-adventure entitled Ningen’s Nightmares.
In the second story of Ningen, he will be used by an evil witch who wishes to use him to resurrect a demon-samurai who will bring about chaos and destruction. Ningen will find himself at odds with warriors and bounty hunters who are coming after him on the witch’s behalf to collect his blood for her spells. There is no official word as to if this place before or even during 365 Samurai, but given how good 365 Samurai was it doesn’t ostensibly matter — this is going to be good regardless.
The book will be released in February of next year.
This will be the second English graphic novel to be released by Kalonji, who is more known for his French manga-influenced comics. For the official press release from Dark Horse, check after the cut.
