In an interesting turn of events, it looks like Kieron Gillen’s run on Generation Hope is ending with the 13th issue this November. Not only that, but Ibraim Roberson – who had done an issue of Uncanny X-Men with Gillen starring Hope and Wolverine – will be taking over as series artist. Asmus has written the X-Men before, specifically Hope and Cyclops in the Uncanny Annual crossover with Namor and Super Soldier, and he will be writing an Astonishing X-Men one-and-done come October. It appears he has slowly found himself a place in the X-Universe now.

Oh, yeah, and Sebastian Shaw – villain extraordinaire – will be leading the group. …Wait, what?

On his blog, Kieron elaborated:

Why am I off? Primarily, it’s a workload issue. I’m fine with three Marvel ongoings, plus my indie gigs. However, when there’s as much double-shipping as there is, that’s often been five books a month. I’ve been managing it, but I’m aware there’s very little room for give. By stepping away from Generation Hope, I regain my margin. And then I can sleep the sleep of the sleepy.

I even like the numbers for that. Matt gave birth to them. I raised them to twelve. Now, as teenagers, James get to take them out and cause all manner of trouble.

We’ll certainly miss Gillen on the title, but hopes are still high (no pun intended, of course).

Anyone who has guesses as to what is going on with the rag tag group of newly minted do-gooders, let us know in the comments.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
