It’s been argued that back in 1989 the launch of James O’Barr’s “The Crow” was the comic that launched underground comics into the public conscious. Whether that’s true or not, the thing was a massive hit and spawned an equally massive film adaptation (how many people d’you think still dress up as Eric Draven for Halloween ever year?). But O’Barr’s been strangely absent from what’s now become a franchise.
Until now.
Now, some of you might be reading “The Crow: Death And Rebirth” from IDW which is set to wrap up next month and I have some good news for you: in December, James O’Barr is returning to the world of “The Crow” in December with “The Crow: Skinning The Wolves” as IDW themselves reports. O’Barr will be joined by co-artist Jim Terry to tell a story set in a European concentration camp in 1945 over the course of a three isssue mini-series.
“This is a story I’ve had planned for ages; 20 years maybe. It’s a tough tightrope to walk, using a concentration camp as a setting for a story, but I took care in not exploiting the situation for entertainment purposes. I did layouts and a rough story outline, but got sidetracked with the increasing popularity of the original film and graphic novel of The Crow and never found the time to finish it,” O’Barr told IDW. “I met Jim Terry a few years ago and was really truly impressed with his Eisneresque style and thought it would be perfect for him. He’s gone above and beyond my expectations and I’m very proud of him and this book.”
“The Crow: Skinning The Wolves” #1 lands in December and be sure to check IDW for more information about the serious.
