In news that almost seemed like an inevitability at this point, James Robinson has confirmed at NYCC via CBR that “Fantastic Four” will in fact come to an end next year. The first “Fantastic Four” book I really get into and it ends within a year. Typical.

While there’s no mention of the grand conspiracy against FOX Studios and their owning the film rights to the characters, Robinson promised that he will be giving the characters a welcome send-off. The book will be reverting to the original numbering of the title, Robinson confirmed at NYCC’s Axel-In-Charge panel, before the big finale issue in 2015. Where we will see the Fantastic Four after that (or even when we’ll see them) is anyone’s guess at this point, but Robinson assured readers that “nobody that likes the Fantastic Four will have a bad taste in their mouth.”

Things seem tough for Marvel’s first family all around, eh?

Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
