“Batman Eternal” co-plotter for DC, writer of “The Woods” for Boom!, James Tynion IV is launching another creator-owned series, also at Boom! “Memetic” is a three-issue miniseries illustrated by Eryk Donovan, a relative newcomer who illustrated a story in the “In the Dark” anthology from IDW, and is Tynion’s artist on his Thrillbent series, “The House in the Wall.”

Described as “the fall of mankind in the craziest way yet: an internet meme,” the book is due to hit stores in October. Tynion spoke to Newsarama about the book, and had this to say:

The idea for “Memetic” stems from me trying to think of contemporary fears; what are the major fears we really latch onto? The biggest thing I realized is how fast information can spread right now; the meta quality of stuff online and the number of eyes that can be put on it is massive. Now, what if you threw something up destructive, especially if it seems innocuous and pleasant initially? You could end the world in just a few days.

Last week, the above image of a sloth was circulating around the comics internet, and it has now been revealed to be a teaser for this book. So, stare at that for a bit, and look for the book this fall!
