Jane Foster will pick up Mjolnir again ahead of the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, in “Jane Foster & the Mighty Thor,” a new five-issue series by writer Torunn Grønbekk and artist Michael Dowling. Per the official synopsis provided to The Mary Sue, the series will see Asgard come under attack from enemies like Hela, Ulik, and the Enchantress, and Mjolnir inexplicably crash through Jane’s apartment window. Jane must find out what has happened to Thor Odinson, “and save Asgard — even if that means she must once again risk her life to become Thor herself!”

Jane Foster previously became Thor during Jason Aaron’s 2014-2018 run on the title; she subsequently became the last Valkyrie during 2019’s ‘War of the Realms,’ and starred in several subsequent series written by Aaron, Al Ewing, and then Grønbekk, namely “Valkyrie: Jane Foster,” “King in Black: Return of the Valkyries,” and “The Mighty Valkyries.” Artist Michael Dowling is the co-creator of indie series like “Unfollow” and “SFSX,” and has worked on other Marvel titles like “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “Black Cat.”

In further Marvel news today, the publisher announced this summer’s crossover event ‘Judgment Day’ will begin with a prelude issue in June, “A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment,” written by Kieron Gillen with art by Pasqual Ferry. The core series, “A.X.E.: Judgment Day,” by Gillen and artist Valerio Schiti, will then unfold over six issues beginning in July.

“Jane Foster & the Mighty Thor” #1 will be released in June with a cover by Ryan Stegman, and a variant by Peach Momoko, while “A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment” will be released on June 29. Thor: Love and Thunder, co-starring Natalie Portman as the Jane Foster incarnation of Thor, is still set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
