Playing into Nikki Finke’s recent article about how seven films are on the horizon for DC Entertainment, and that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” would be the one that introduces the world to many of the Justice League characters (even the unannounced ones), Drew McWeeny at Hitfix has “confirmed” that Jason Momoa (aka Khal Drogo from “Game of Thrones”) will in fact be playing Aquaman.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: how can a Dothraki man play an Atlantean? Can the Dothraki even swim? The answer may surprise you, as both of those groups of people? Completely fictional. But the good news is Momoa is both (PROBABLY) a good actor, and an imposing physical presence in a film universe that practically demands it (did you SEE Henry Cavill in “Man of Steel”?). So that’s neat.
McWeeny continues on in the article to insist that the major driving factor in the film will be repercussions coming from the ending of “Man of Steel”, which saw big chunks of Metropolis and the Indian Ocean being destroyed in rather over the top fashion as Superman tried to stop Zod and his Merry Men. On the former side, Lex Luthor leads a push against him, and on the latter side, Aquaman (Momoa) is looking for vengeance for the dolphins and what not. We’ll see what happens when the film comes out, but just in case you were worried the film was already overstuffed, at least you now have Aquaman to make sure it’s truly full to the gills.
