Jeff Lemire Teases Animal Man/Swamp Thing Crossover

On Friday, Jeff Lemire lightly teased that he and Scott Snyder were on their way to the DC offices this week to pitch a year long arc crossing over between Swamp Thing and Animal Man called Deadworld. While we don’t know much about the arc, Lemire noted that it would feature Swamp Thing/Animal Man and Maxine/Abby fighting against a world that assumedly fears and hates them. This sounds like something that could also feature points in Lemire’s other DCnU title, Frankenstein (and I’m sure Batman could be worked into it, if Snyder really wanted to).

Lemire and Snyder have been teasing a “crossover” or team-up or whatever you’d like to call it between the two of them for some time now, with Lemire and Albuquerque (artist of American Vampire) even switching artistic duties for a crossover of sorts (as Lemire told us in an interview). Still, we can’t be entirely certain how serious Lemire is here (a year long crossover?), and the fate of most books are still up in the air at this point pending sales. That aside, it should certainly be interesting to see Lemire and Snyder team up to tell some good old fashioned horror.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
