Jeremy Renner Is Almost Hawkeye

A while back, we reported that there was speculation that Jeremy Renner, star of The Hurt Locker, could be the future Hawkeye. Well, according to Heat Vision, Renner is now in final talks to assume the role that we fans so adore. There is also speculation that Renner could have a brief cameo in Thor before assuming the role in the Avengers.

When speaking to MTV News, Renner said about Hawkeye, “I liked [him] because he wasn’t a superhero. He’s not a guy in tights doing his thing, he’s actually just a regular dude with a highly trained set of skills. I think I can actually connect to that. Not just flying around with a codpiece on or something.”

Those of you who have seen the Hurt Locker know how great Renner is, and while he may be “a tad old” to put on the suit of Clint Barton, he’s certainly a great choice acting wise – especially when you measure him up to the already intense and impressive cast of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Evans, and Edward Norton (assuming you like all those actors).

Thoughts on Renner? Psyched to have him possibly in the film, or is there someone else you think could make a better Hawkeye? Do you even want Hawkeye in the movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
