In news that probably made Mr. Bendis do a back flip, the final of ABC’s three new Marvel-based television properties has been announced: AKA Jessica Jones.

As reported by Variety, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who you might know from the Twilight movie, or perhaps Dexter) will be writing and producing the series based on the former Alias (the comic, not the show) star who now spends her time with Luke Cage over in the New Avengers mansion. It’ll pick up with Jones right after her Jewel days are done, placing her back in the role of Private Investigator and hopefully – just maybe! – investigating Marvel related mysteries. Fans of the comic will remember her interacting with Rick Jones and Matt Murdock quite frequently, as well as having relationships Scott Lang and Luke Cage.

In great news for fans, Brian Bendis will always be working with the show as a consultant, in addition to Jeph Loeb, Joe Quesada, Alan Fine, and Howard Klein who will all serve as executive producers. It looks like Marvel has a newfound love for Jessica Jones, what with the announcement that there will be a new Alias mini and her being put on the A-List character roster.

Either way, this is incredibly exciting news for us at Multiversity because we love Alias. I also can’t help but feel the title is a nod to AKA Goldfish, one of Bendis’ older comics, which I highly approve of. We’ll give you all news as we get it. In the mean time, we pose to you: Who should play Jessica Jones? (I smell a future MC Casting Couch coming on…)

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
