Continuing today’s trend of reviving unexpected comic book series, Jimmy Palmiotti will be bringing “Painkiller Jane” to Icon this November, as announced by Marvel. With a number of artists including Juan Santacruz, Asam Lofti, and Paul Mounts, the new “Painkiller Jane” will be a four-issue miniseries that Palmiotti hopes will “re-introduce the character to a bigger audience”. The property, created by Pamiotti and Joe Quesada, originated at Event Comics and went on to be relaunched at Dynamite Entertainment before this move to Icon.

In an interview over at Marvel, Palmiotti described Jane Vasko, the titular Painkiller Jane, as “part Dirty Harry, part Wolverine, part sexual dynamo” which will certainly make for an interesting series.

“I feel now is the perfect time to go back to print with a new set of [limited series]. Painkiller Jane is a character that has never left my system. When I was able to work on Jane years later, I began to really flush out her character, her motivation, her sexuality and her relationship with the world around her. Now with this book I get to dig in and get to take the character on a wild ride with no restrictions.

“Painkiller Jane” returns to comic book this November with a four-issue miniseries from Icon by Jimmy Palmiotti and a team of artists including Juan Santacruz, Asam Lofti, and Paul Mounts. For more information, check out the interview with Palmiotti at Marvel.com for more information.

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
