First came Frank Cho. Then Zeb Wells and Joe Mad. Now? Jock, baby. Jock.

Taking the third arc for Marvel’s in-continuity continuity-free “Savage Wolverine” series, talent-extraordinaire Jock will be writing and illustrating the series. Announced at USA Today, the book has three-issues for the story planned starting with issue #9 that will find Wolverine in a sci-fi story where “the clawed mutant member of the X-Men crash-landed on an alien planet having to adapt and survive to his new surroundings.”

The best quote in the article probably goes to this bit right here, though:

“Logan has the power of regeneration as we know, but he’d only ever be able to regenerate his own cells,” Jock explains. “So what if thousands, maybe even millions of years in the future, the world around him has continued to evolve, and he’s left literally, a Neanderthal man?”

So, it’s like sci-fi “Old Man Logan” and Planet of the Apes? Yeah, we can dig it.

Look for the story to begin in September.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
