Joe Eisma’s Morning Glory Babies Is The Spin-Off We Want

Last week was Morning Glories artist Joe Eisma’s son Logan’s bithday (happy birthday again, Logan!), and to that end Eisma made a joke that now that Logan is three, it’s time for him to start inking Joe’s work. In return, I noted that Logan should illustrate a Morning Glories spin-off entitled Morning Glory Babies, featuring baby versions of all the characters (think Muppet Babies, but much more violent). So of course Joe Eisma drew it!

I don’t think we’re going to be seeing any specific Morning Glories spin-offs anytime soon, but I can’t help but note that Morning Glory Babies would make an amazing one-page back-up strip for Morning Glories, if Nick is as inclined to run with the idea as Joe was. Picture it now – a regular adult Daramount standing in a playroom featuring the babies, with the dialogue bubble, “Ok, kids, we’re going for the day – and Casey, don’t you burn anything down!”

Check behind the cut for an additional baby “David”, as well as a colored baby Jade by Alex Sollazzo, MG’s colorist.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
