On Twitter just a few minutes ago, Joe Hill started sharing some details about the rapidly approaching end of his IDW series Locke & Key. That series that he co-created with artist Gabriel Rodriguez is a favorite of ours here, and on Twitter, Hill dropped some knowledge about the wrap-up (our apologies if this has already been shared).

First he shared:

“Was asked when the entire LOCKE & KEY story will be complete. The story of Tyler & Rendell & Dodge will finish with OMEGA, prolly in 2013.

For those reading the book, the name Omega is a fitting one for final book to the series given the power of the Omega Key in the book and the basic meaning of Omega (being the name of the last letter in the Greek alphabet and all). Sad face on it not coming until 2013 possibly though.

Hill elaborated to add a definitely previously unknown potential idea:

But @GR_comics (Gabriel Rodriguez’s Twitter handle) & I like telling stories about Keyhouse & the Locke family; there are loose plans for a 7th book called LOCKE & KEY: THE LOST

So not only do we now know what the final volume of this series is, it also sounds like there may be an addition to the series with The Lost. Here’s hoping that comes true and that the apocalypse doesn’t. That’d be a major bummer if we were robbed of the ending to Locke & Key because of the stupid world ending.
