Joe Hill’s The Cape Get’s A Mini!

No, not that the Cape from NBC. This is the good one!

Last year, a one-shot came out adapting a short story by Joe Hill (Locke and Key) telling the origin story of the world’s least likable new superhero. It was a fantastic one-shot with fantastic art from Zach Howard, and one of the few comics that I’ve read that actually made me gasp outloud at one point.

Now we’ve found out, snuck into the IDW solicits, that the Cape will be returning as promised this year in a brand new mini! It starts in June with a Legacy Edition reprint of the one-shot, which will feature Joe Hill’s original short story as well as notes from Jason Ciaramella (who adapted the story into a one-shot). Then in July, a brand new mini-series starring the character will come out from IDW. We don’t know the art team or story details yet, but one thing is certain: you will be buying it. Yes, you will.

If you didn’t get the original one-shot, grab a copy of the Legacy Edition. It’s a bit more pricey ($5.99), but you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck with the original story in there as well. Look forward to more info on this story as we get it.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
