Joëlle Jones is going to be writing and drawing a brand-new monthly “Catwoman” series, spinning out of her featuring role in “Batman.” The first issue debuts the same day as Selina and Bruce are scheduled to tie the knot in “Batman” #50. “Catwoman” will see Selina going up against a copycat who’s pulling heists around Gotham City, as well as the GCPD. The series also promises a new villain “determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina’s lives.” Laura Allred will be coloring the series, and issue #1 will have a variant from Stanley “Artgerm” Lau.

The announcement came today at the C2E2 Batman panel, where Jones joined moderator (and “Batman” editor) Jamie Rich, Tony Daniel, Tom King, Clay Mann, Sean Gordon Murphy, and Tim Seeley as they talked about the caped crusader.

Jones has illustrated several recent issues of “Batman” with writer Tom King. She is the first female artist to have an actual run on the best-selling series. Becky Cloonan became the first female artist ever to draw “Batman” when she joined Scott Snyder for the stand-alone “Batman” #12, only few years ago in 2012.

“Catwoman” #1 hits stands on July 4, 2018. Check out the full cover and solicit below.

The wedding night’s barely over, but Catwoman’s back on the streets, this time to expose a copycat who’s pulling heists around Gotham City. As Selina cracks the whip on her former criminal cohorts, she’s attracting unwanted attention from one of Gotham’s most dangerous groups. The mob? Nope. Try the GCPD. And as if the Bat-Bride didn’t have enough problems, don’t miss the debut of an all-new villain determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina’s lives. Don’t miss the start of an all-new monthly series written and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominee Joëlle Jones!
