John Ostrander is one of those comic legends that whenever news comes around that he is going to be writing something for the Big Two, it’s big news. Which is why it’s big news that next month, Ostrander will be stepping in to script Aquaman #20 instead of Geoff Johns. The news comes from IGN and there’s no real word as to why Johns isn’t going to be writing the issue, but it’s probably so he can focus on Trinity War or any of his other three million projects.

Ostrander will be bringing artists Manuel Garcia and Sandra Hope with him for the issue as well as Paul Pelletier and Sean Parsons for the new cover for the issue. Also of note is that fact that issue will focus on Aquaman enlisting The Others in order to locate an ancient relic as opposed to the originally solicited story of Arthur’s right to the throne of Atlantis being tested. Whether the originally solicited story will show up in #21 is up in the air right now.

Honestly, I’d be okay if this development leads to Ostrander taking over the title if Johns ever leaves. That’d be something to read. But for now, we only get one issue and it comes out next month.

Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
