According to a report from Blue Sky Disney that is marked as an exclusive, Josh Hutcherson is your next on-screen Peter Parker for the Marc Webb reboot of Spider-Man. According to the report, extensive shoots have been done with Hutcherson and “an offer was made and has been accepted.” The post then goes on to note that the Lizard is the villain.

The report may seem a bit uncredible at first due to the set up of the blog, but LatinoReview.com backs up the claim and adds that “Josh Hutcherson is more than likely your new friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.” So take it as you will.

Who is Hutcherson? Well you may (or may not) remember him from a little film with Branden Fraser called Journey to the Center of the Earth that came out a few years ago in which Hutcherson played the teenage nephew as well as a supporting role in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant. On top of that, he’ll also be appearing in the Red Dawn remake.

I’m unfamiliar with him as an actor, but he certainly is age appropriate for the role. Anyone out there familiar with Hutcherson? Are you excited about him as Spider-Man, or is your fanboy nerdrage boiling up? Let us know in the comments.

    Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
