Have you been reading the current Green Arrow stuff? As in, Rise And Fall – both of Green Arrow himself and Arsenal, his adopted son? Well, then you probably know the name JT Krul by this point. Love his work or hate it, Krul is slowly making his footprint in the DCU, and now according to a scoop at Newsarama, Krul is going to be taking over the future of the Teen Titans.

“Specifically, I want to focus on the bond between the Titans,” Krul told Newsarama. “They’ve been through a lot over the years, and while they have their friction, they are a family. Beyond that, I want to build up the team through the threats they face, amping up the threats in terms of some new villains.”

The Teen Titans have definitely been in a bit of flux lately, what with the last team being destroyed and everyone falling apart with people’s relationships getting screwed up lately via Blackest Night (to which Krul wrote the fairly disturbing tie-in) and Cry For Justice. With Kid Flash and Superboy returning to the team, a lot of fans have hoped that this would return some sense of normalcy to the book. The book has been under the hands of Fringe and Gossip Girl writer, Felicia Henderson.

“Initially, it’s about stabilizing the team – who they are, what they are doing, and identifying the role they play in the broader sense of the DCU,” Krul explained. “For me, the Teen Titans are not so much a training ground for newbie heroes, but a beacon for them and for all teenagers in a way. There are so many wrong paths to take and the Teen Titans serve as an example of those trying their best to take the right path – no matter how difficult it may prove to be.”

Krul hopes that his run will return the Titans to prominence as well as a sense of relevance in the DCU, including some kind of Bat-family related sequence.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
