Writer Sina Grace (“Iceman”) and artist Derek Charm (“Jughead”) are re-deputizing Riverdale’s favorite slacker and sending him back into the time stream, with a June revival of “Jughead’s Time Police.”

Children of the ’90s might remember the original six-issue “Jughead’s Time Police” series, in which Jughead joined a group of time-traveling cops tasked with “keeping history from going haywire.” In Grace and Charm’s new five-issue miniseries, Jughead himself is going to be the one who messes up the time-space continuum, and it’s going to be up to him and Time Cop January McAndrews to make history right again.

“‘Jughead’s Time Police’ is a beloved concept that was screaming to be modernized, so once we read Sina’s pitch, we knew we were in business,” said Archie Comics Co-President Alex Segura, in a statement at SYFYWire.com. “[Grace] honors what came before but gives the idea a much-needed jolt. I can’t think of a better artist to bring it to life than Derek, who had a stellar run on the main ‘Jughead’ title — which kind of feels like a warm-up for this!”

The story kicks off when Jughead travels back in time to stop himself from causing a disaster at the Riverdale Annual Bake-Off, with consequences that result in an “epic battle to keep the time stream intact,” according to the series’s description. For more on this new volume of “Jughead’s Time Police,” including a look at Derek Charm’s character designs for Jugheads from throughout time, be sure to read the full story at SYFYWire.com.

“Jughead’s Time Police” #1 comes out June 12.
