While we haven’t confirmed this by going through all of the history of sales over the past two decades, if my memory serves, Mark Millar is correct in saying his launch of “Jupiter’s Legacy” with Frank Quitely is, in fact, the highest ranking launch of a creator-owned book in almost two decades. That’s a hell of a feat, and speaks volumes of the power behind their names, the marketing Image Comics did, and the savvy plan put together by everyone involved (that included multiple covers and I believe returnability). I knew it was going to be big – by typically non Image favoring shop ordered A TON – but this big is astounding.
