Via The Hollywood Reporter, Image Comics have announced “Jupiter’s Legacy: Requiem,” a 12-issue maxiseries by writer Mark Millar and artist Tommy Lee Edwards, which will be the fifth and final volume of Millar and Frank Quitely’s generations-spanning superhero saga.
According to Millar, “Requiem” follows Chloe and Hutch after they’ve settled down and started a family of their own. “The world’s been fixed, the superheroes now working in tandem with the human race to create this perfect society, but people are still people and it doesn’t take long for the family feud to move forward one generation.”
The book will also take readers back to 1929, to reveal the origins of the mysterious island that granted Chloe’s parents their superpowers. Millar reminded readers, “This place didn’t exist on any maps and there it was in the middle of the Ocean. Why did they come home with super-powers? What’s the big idea behind this entire series and how does it conclude? We’ve done the past, we’ve done the present and ‘Requiem’ takes us into the future to finish this book epic.”
Millar said of Edwards, “he just delivers in spades here, showing us a comic book future like nothing we’ve ever seen. He’s always been one of my favourite artists and this is the best work of his career.”
“Jupiter’s Legacy: Requiem” #1 will be published on June 16, a month after the Netflix series based on the initial run is released on May 7. Millar expressed hope “people will be licking their lips to see what happens next.”
