When Craig Thompson’s Habibi was released, I expected it to (deservedly) run off a forever long streak of #1 finishes on the New York Times Best Selling Graphic Books list. I mean, it is his first book since Carnet de Voyage in 2004, and his star has just risen and risen since then.
But today brought surprising and, frankly, pretty awesome news: Kate Beaton’s most excellent Hark! A Vagrant’s debut hardcover collection slayed the mighty dragon and took the top spot from Thompson.
A big congrats goes to Kate from all of us at MC – as awesome as Habibi may be, it’s great to see another fantastic creator take the top spot.
