You’ve all read the Harry Potter series, right? Or at least seen the films. It seems like most people these days have at least had some interaction with Harry Potter in their lives, through one form of media or another, as it is definitely a cultural phenomenon. I can remember my mom bringing home “this new wizard book” she bought at some book store to encourage me to read books without pictures in 1998. While I didn’t keep up with the series, it was definitely an enjoyable read at the time.

But there are generations of people who have never read the series and who are coming to them still. To that end, Scholastic is releasing new editions of the books replacing the classic Mary GrandPré art with art by MC favorite Kazu Kibuishi, as revealed on PublishersWeekly. Readers may recognize him as the writer of the fantastic “Amulet” series, as well as the man who put together the “Flight” anthologies at Image Comics, and all should certainly note him as a talent. As you can tell from the cover provided, the upcoming redesigns are going to be pretty great.

The whole thing is timed for the books 15th anniversary, and all the books will come out in September with a retail value of $12.99 to $16.99. The volumes will also be packaged in a boxed set that will retail for $100, although it’s not noted if this will have Kibuishi artwork as well (hopefully). If you haven’t yet picked up the series, hold out for a few months. It’ll be worth the wait.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
