We don't have a cover for the book yet, so here's the cover for Avengers Assemble #7

Sometimes it is just really easy to excited about comics. This is one of those times.

Over at USA Today, it was announced that Marvel will be releasing a mini-series starring current hot Marvel bad guy Thanos (currently appearing in “Avengers Assemble” as the main bad guy), in “Thanos: Son of Titan.” Written by Joe “Hell Yeah!” Keatinge and illustrated by Richard “That Awesome Run On Thor” Elson, the series seeks to retell and update the origin of Thanos, the Mad Titan, for the modern audience. It goes all the way back to early Marvel continuity, before “Fantastic Four” came out in the 1960s, and will deal with various events that shaped the Marvel universe, as well as one of it’s biggest villains.

Many folks who saw The Avengers had no clue who the bad guy was at the end of the film who turned around and cracked a grin at the audience. We did our best to offer some go to books, but I would imagine that having a brand new origin book would be a handy book to have in any future go-to guide once Avengers 2 rolls along.

Not to boost any egos too much, but if there is anyone more suited to write a love letter to Thanos, it’s the same guy writing frequent love letters to comics in general with books like “Glory” and “Hell Yeah.” Add to that the fantastic Rich Elson, who is no stranger to drawing big, grandiose space sequences, and you’ve got a match made in comic heaven.

Marvel will also be re-printing some early Thanos appearances as well.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
