According to an interview over at Essence, Keke Palmer has dropped the news that she has been offered a role in Marvel’s Runaways film. Which is cool and all, but it leaves the rest of us thinking, “…well, as who?”

Here’s the thing: Marvel Studios have already addressed the idea of race-bending their casting in response to negative reactions to a) Avatar: The Last Airbender and b) the fans. Those of you familiar with the Runaways will also know that there are no black female leads, though. So with MTV speculating that she might be playing Nico, that leaves me thinking “Hmm.”

So – assuming that the story focuses simply on the first volume of the Runaways story, which dealt with their parents being the Pride and them coming out as heroes, who is she to play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. I’m kind of lost on this, myself.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
