Kelly Sue’s Marvel Books to Crossover in May

Kelly Sue DeConnick currently writes two books for Marvel, “Avengers Assemble” and “Captain Marvel.” Both are totally excellent, go together like peanut butter and jelly and should have spots on your pull. And if you have one on the pull but not the other, get ready: you’re going to want them both.

Launching in May as announced on USA Today, the two books cross paths with ‘The Enemy Within,’ a crossover launching from a one-shot with art by Scott Hepburn. The five-part crossover running between the two books sees Carol dealing with a new arch-enemy, someone who is actually an old villain of Mar-Vell’s. Returning with anger, he organizes a bunch of older villains with grudges in tact to battle with the Avengers.

Not only that, but the current “Grounded” arc that kicks off with #10 and deals with an unidentified lesion in Carol’s brain will play a big part of the crossover. As the article reads,

But there is also a clear resolution coming to her medical brain issue, and that will be its own problem kicking off the story arc that follows the crossover “in a really devastating way,” DeConnick says. “Which I know sounds so hyperbolic but short of killing her, it’s the biggest sacrifice she could make.”

Look for the crossover to begin in May, and probably a few more details to pop up in the upcoming solicits. And make sure to pre-order this bad boy, because it’s definitely something you’re not going to want to miss.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
