Insert overused “Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon” joke here.

Variety confirmed that Kevin Bacon would be joining the cast of X-Men: First Class as a “mystery villain.” Not only that, but he will be joined at his side by a confirmed villain – Mystique, played by Jennifer Lawrence. There is no news on who Bacon will be playing yet, but the rumor mill is of course already making it’s run through the internet, with many people of the belief that he will play Mr. Sinister (and that would be the least terrifying Sinister ever). It’s of course interesting to note that Bacon is confirmed as the villain, despite us already having Magneto in the movie.

Bacon and Lawrence join a cast including James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Professor X and Magneto, as well as Nicholas Hoult, Caleb Landry Jones and Alice Eve. The film will be directed by Matthew Vaughn from a story idea by executive producer Bryan Singer and the movie is set to come out in June 2011.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
