We’d heard about this back in October of last year, but since then Marvel Studios hadn’t made it clear what additional properties they’d be expanding to, if any. However, as reported by Crave Online, Kevin Feige revealed at a press junket that Guardians of the Galaxy: The Movie was basically the most likely film on the table, as well as confirming that it would star the modern DnA incarnation of the team. With a hook like “a talking raccoon and a tree”, who can blame them? Marvel apparently “knows their second film for 2014”, and all signs point to it being related to something cosmic.

Supposedly there are teases for what film could come next from Marvel in Odin’s trophy room from Thor, which contained, among other things, the Infinity Gauntlet. Comic fans should know the Infinity Gauntlet as an item most related to Thanos and cosmic Marvel stories, which would be a good connection for a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, let alone the rumored Inhumans film.

Although there are all those other rumors about the Infinity Gauntlet’s appearance at Comic Con and Odin’s trophy room, but we won’t get into that.

To have a Guardians of the Galaxy movie starring Rocket Raccoon and Groot would be pretty excellent, especially if they got Keith David or Michael Clarke Duncan to voice Groot. Having Cosmo in the film would be nice as well, but we’re not going to be greedy.

When reached for comment, Groot replied “I AM GROOT.”

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
