Kid Omega – Your First New Phoenix Candidate

You know what is always fun? Wild speculation for speculation’s sake. That’s why we have some for you here today!

Part of Marvel’s upcoming Avengers vs X-Men event is the debate of who will be the new host of the Phoenix, what with Jean Grey being dead and all. While we certainly had some fun playing a guessing game of who it would be, we obviously have no idea who it could possibly be.

But you know who does know who it will be? Marvel Architect Jason Aaron, writer of Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, PunisherMAX and Wolverine and the X-Men. And you know who happened to be brandishing the Phoenix logo in a possible alternate future vision this week? Quentin Quire, aka Kid Omega.

In all fairness, this wouldn’t be Quentin’s first interaction with the Phoenix. In Pak and Land’s Phoenix – Endsong, Quentin manipulated the Phoenix Force in an effort to raise his lost love Sophie from the dead (who, once she came back to life, chose to kill herself rather than be with him). As an omega class mutant with telepathic powers, he would be a fine host for the Phoenix, if it weren’t for all that negativity he harbors.

Then again, he is one possible candidate of hundreds. Thousands even! So who knows. (Besides Jason Aaron, of course.) We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more possible Phoenix candidates popping up in random Marvel comics for you.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
