Robert Kirkman and artist Lorenzo De Felici are launching a new sci-fi series at Kirkman’s Image imprint Skybound entitled “Oblivion Song.” The series follows a special agent named Nathan Cole as he daily transports to an alternate dimension to save people from the hellhole known as Oblivion. You can check out the NYCC launch trailer and official description below:
A decade ago 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole… won’t. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe… Nathan is looking for something else? Why can’t he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?
Kirkman is the creator and writer of such long running titles at Image like “The Walking Dead” and “Invincible,” the latter of which is ending in January 2018 with issue #144. This is Kirkman’s first new comic since 2014 when he launched “Outcast by Kirkman & Azaceta” with art by Paul Azaceta. “The Walking Dead,” “Invincible,” “Outcast,” and other Kirkman series like “Thief of Thieves” either have television or movie adaptations airing or on the way, so it makes sense that “Oblivion Song” could join those ranks soon.
This is De Felici’s first interior work on a comic in America, but has provided cover work for many Skybound titles including “The Walking Dead,” “Invincible,” “Kill the Minotaur,” and “Birthright.” Kirkman and De Felici are said to have been working on “Oblivion Song” for over a year and already have multiple issues completed. Annalisa Leoni is coloring the series with Rus Wooton lettering and Skybound’s Senior VP and Editor-in-Chief Sean Mackiewicz editing the series.
“Oblivion Song” #1 launches from Skybound and Image on March 7, 2018. Look for more information to be revealed this morning at NYCC.
