As reported earlier this year, Frank Miller is returning to his Batman world with “The Dark Knight III: The Master Race”. We already knew he would be joined by “Wonder Woman” writer Brian Azzarello but today at SDCC, DC Comics revealed who would be doing the artwork. Klaus Janson and Andy Kubert will work on the entire series. Each issue will be 32 pages with a 16 page “Dark Knight Universe” minicomic that will feature a wide range of writers and artists. Those creators have yet to be announced.

There’s no doubt that Frank Miller had a huge impact on Batman and comics as a whole. When he was at the top of his game, he provided comics with some of the edgiest and coolest stories that hadn’t been seen yet at the time. It’s tough though to see this as something special when Miller is only one part of a bigger team. When he’s been in the spotlight, he’s said things that have upset a lot of people and “The Master Race” isn’t exactly an alluring title for a comic.

Regardless, this will still make a lot of money and if we take a wishful thinking approach, the mini comics will hopefully feature a mix of veterans and new creators. Something like this will have a lot of eyes on it so imagine how great it would be to get some newer creator’s work out there for more people to see.

“The Dark Knight III: The Master Race” is expected this fall but still doesn’t have an official release date.
