Latour and Asrar Bring “Wolverine and the X-Men” Back, and We Couldn’t Be Happier

We had previously lamented the end of “Wolverine and the X-Men”, noting that it was likely to return but forlorn over the loss of Jason Aaron as the writer and architect of the book. It was great, and much of it was because of the carefully cultivated identity Aaron had crafted. It would take a hell of a team for us to want this book back, and thankfully, Marvel went just that route.

Marvel will be relaunching the book in March in the hands of writer Jason Latour – Aaron’s artist on “Southern Bastards” and co-writer on the recent Wolverine digital series – and artist Mahmud Asrar (Supergirl). Latour, naturally, is a very strong fit to take over for Aaron, as we know he’s a great writer in the vein of Aaron, while being different enough to make things very interesting. Asrar, however, is the reason to jump for joy: this guy is AMAZING. He’s going to be such a great fit for the book, and we couldn’t be more excited for him to join the book.

IGN has a full interview with Latour on the subject, including talking about new staff like Fantomex, his plans for Quentin Quire and how Wolverine’s new status quo will fit in.

This is a big dose of awesome to comic fans out there. We can’t wait to read it.
