Announced at Newsarama, Archaia is once again returning to the magical land of Fraggle Rock in a new mini-series written by Kate Leth and illustrated by Jake Myler.

Entitled “Journey to the Everspring,” this will be the first serialized “Fraggle Rock” story at the publisher since Archaia joined with BOOM!. Leth notes that the goal of it was to feel almost like a film in length and scope, and the book will find the Fraggles discovering that their home is devoid of water, leaving them to venture deeper into Fraggle Rock for more water, only to find a new colony of the Doozers, who have been redesigned by Leth for the series with approval from the Henson Company.

Jim Henson’s characters have had a fairly healthy representation in comics, especially at BOOM!’s imprint Archaia, which has published books for “Fraggle Rock” previously, as well as “Dark Crystal” and “A Tale of Sand.” Kate Leth has also had a strong representation at the publisher, having written “Adventure Time” and “Bravest Warriors,” which puts her in a great place to write more All-Ages comics — and with Myler returning to “Fraggle Rock,” having drawn a short in BOOM!/Archaia’s previous “Fraggle” anthology, this is kind of a dream team scenario.

While no date has been mentioned for the series yet, one could perhaps presume it’ll be an October release date, as that is when all of the current books being announced are slated for. In the meantime, enjoy the theme from Fraggle Rock, which got stuck in my head just from writing up this news piece:

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
