ComiXology has announced the new comiXology Original “Liebestrasse,” an LGBTQ love story set in 1930s Germany. The book is be the debut graphic novel of writer and comic book editor Greg Lockard, featuring art from co-creator Tim Fish, colors from Héctor Barros, lettering from Lucas Gattoni, and editing by Will Dennis. The story follows two men who fall in love as fascism rises around them.

Per comiXology’s press release, “Liebestrasse” follows Sam, an American banker, and Philip, a German art critic, who meet while living and working in 1930s Berlin. When the Nazis take power, Philip is arrested and disappears, and Sam is forced to return to the United States. Stricken by survivor’s guilt, Sam returns to the country during the post-War reconstruction in 1952, finding the country has been forever and horrifically altered.
“There have been countless comics, books, films and television shows about Germany’s descent into fascism because it’s essential that these stories continue to be told,” said Lockard. “We co-created this graphic novel to shine a light on a troubling period of world history…This is the story of two gay men in Nazi Germany, told by two gay comic creators living in America. We hope the story of ‘Liebestrasse’ will resonate with readers everywhere.”
“Liebestrasse” debuts on November 6th and will be available to read on Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited, and comiXology Unlimited, or for purchase on Kindle and comiXology.
