With this week’s “Li’l Depressed Boy,” we’ve received some sad news: as of issue #16, the book is temporarily over. Not permanently, mind you, but for the time being we will no longer have the adventures of LDB and his assorted cast, as Struble and Grace will be taking a break from the series.

Struble and Grace write,

It’s taken two years to get here, but issue 16 marks the end of an important era- the first part of a larger Li’l Depressed Story. LDB is not over- not by a long shot. But this halfway point is the best place to put a pin in things, do major internal tweaking, and come back full-force. We as creators have done a disservice to readers and retailers with erratic shipping, and with Image Comics on our side, we’ve all agreed to stockpile material before soliciting future stories.

The pair plan to come back when they have enough stocked up so that there are no more missed issues. They even mention they are considering “going the Hellboy way”, with each storyline as a new volume.

“LDB” is one of our favorite books here at MC, never earning below a 9.0, with a quote from us making it onto the first volume trade dress and book description. We’ll greatly miss it. But it’ll be back, so we’re not too worried. Just temporarily bummed.

But there’s a silver lining, as the following images appear at the end of the issue:

So look forward to that later this year, featuring everyone’s favorite Sina Grace.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
