Yes, really. No, I can’t believe it either. But holy damn, am I stoked.

Announced at Comikaze, Lion Forge has announced that hey will be releasing a new “Miami Vice: Remix” comic series, sbringing Crocket and Tubbs back into the mainstream. Written by Joe Casey and illustrated by Jim Mahfood, the series will update Crockett and Tubbs to modern day in order to find out what it would be like if they were manning the streets of Miami today. While I imagine this will have very little in common with Michael Mann’s re-imagining of Miami Vice, it does look like the quintessential neon imagery is being maintained for the series with a more gritty and vibrant dichotomy fitting for Mahfood’s artwork.

And, holy hell, is Jim Mahfood the perfect artist for this or what? Both Casey and Mahfood seem like really great picks for this series, and if reading this series can be half as fun as re-watching Miami Vice is today then this is definitely going to be a hit for fans of the show, Casey, Mahfood and more.

No word yet on a release date for the series, but I will be eagerly looking forward to this whenever it comes out.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
