DC has been rolling new series announcements over the last week, and today’s could be a really fun one, you bastiches.
“Lobo,” from writer Cullen Bunn (“The Sixth Gun,” “Magneto,” “Sinestro”) and artist Reilly Brown (“Cable and Deadpool,” “Deathmatch,” “New Warriors”), will be debuting in October, and will feature both the “real” Lobo introduced by Marguerite Bennett and Ben Oliver in a Villains Month issue last September, and the “classic” Lobo, brought into the New 52 in Rob Liefeld’s “Deathstroke” run, who Brown and Bunn have been referring to as “Faux-bo.” The “real” Lobo is the star of the book, with Faux-bo having some sort of role.
Bunn and Brown talk to Comic Book Resources about the book, which seems like it could be a lot of fun, but not nearly as fun as one of Bunn’s other pitches:
One of my earliest pitches for the series featured both Lobos in an odd couple/buddy cop misadventure across the universe. It was sort of a “Simon & Simon” story featuring the Lobo brothers. In the end, that didn’t fly. And as much fun as I think that might have been, it’s probably for the best.
We disagree, Cullen. Look for the book October 1.
