Out of all the assembled Mignola-verse, it is without a doubt that Lobster Johnson is my favorite. Why? While he is certainly one of the more underdeveloped characters, his pulp action awesomeness and fantastic name more than make up for his general lack of appearance — and it looks like Mignola is finally going to start changing that.
After getting his own mini in 2007, Lobster is back for his second mini, The Burning Hand. Written by Mignola and John Arcudi with art by Who Is Jake Ellis’ Tonci Zonjic (which pretty much ensures this book looking amazing) and covers by Dave Johnson, this already sounds like one of the must buy comics of 2012.
The solicit for the title is as follows:
When a tribe of phantom Indians start scalping policemen, Hellboy’s crime-fighting hero Lobster Johnson and his allies arrive to take on these foes and their gangster cronies!
Whether you know it or not, you need more Lobster Johnson in your life. Along with the return of Shaolin Cowboy, chalk this up as two epic wins for Dark Horse come 2012 before 2012 has even begun.
