For those that aren’t reading it, IDW’s “Locke & Key” from Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez is an outstanding book. Its blend of horror and just remarkably solid comic book storytelling has earned it a lot of fans, and now it is being developed into a TV show for Fox with a pilot coming in the near future.

Details are starting to come out today, and it looks like one of the leads and director are now for all intents and purposes set.

Miranda Otto of Lord of the Rings fame (she played Eowyn) is set to play the Matriarch of the Locke family, Nina. Her role is a potentially juicy one, but I’m most intrigued by the casting of the kid roles. Still, it’s a good start.

The director, if negotiations go well, will be Mark Romanek of Never Let You Go fame (the 2010 drama that earned stellar reviews and stars new Spider-Man Andrew Garfield). Most well known for his dynamic and exciting ads, Romanek is a director on the rise who could turn this show into a visual powerhouse.

It’s a nice start, and I can’t wait to see more details.
