Over at Newsarama, they announced a new project featuring everyone’s favorite cross-dressing and deceased villain, Loki. He HAS had a rough time of it. What do you think this means for the Norse Trickster? Agurrie-Sacasa is best known for his more grounded work as well as displaying Mormon Love on HBO, so how will he do with someone NOT so realistic? Only time will tell.
Loki hasn’t had an easy time as of late. He was reincarnated as a woman, saw his plans to impersonate Scarlet Witch foiled by The Mighty Avengers and, perhaps most disappointing to him, died at the hands of the Void during the climax of Siege.
So the timing makes sense for Marvel Comics to look back towards a simpler time for the Asgardian trickster god, illustrating his formative years in a four-issue, October-shipping Loki miniseries written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Sensational Spider-Man, HBO’s Big Love) with art from Sebastián Fiumara (Ender’s Shadow: Battle School, Yuggoth Creatures) Except Loki’s path to becoming an iconic villain really wasn’t simple at all, as Newsarama discussed over e-mail with Aguirre-Sacasa, Fiumara and series editor Alejandro Arbona.
