As a part of the Mad Cave Showcase, Mad Cave announced four new titles. The virtual event included a live drawing session by Liana Kangas, and gave the first details on the third annual Mad Cave Talent Search.

The first title is “Hollywood Trash” from writer Stephen Sonneveld and artist Pablo Verdugo (“Mr. Beaver”), with colors by Jose Expósito and letters by Justin Birch. The five-issue series follows garbage men James and Billy after they wrong a huge Hollywood mogul, who sends some of the world’s best hitmen after them. Issue #1 releases October 7th.

Next is “Villainous” from Stonie Williams and Jef Sadzinski (“Show’s End”), with colors by Joana Lafuente and letters from Justin Birch. The book follows the super-powered Tilly as she joins the Coalition of Heroes’ sidekick program. However, as she quickly unearths the concerning history of the Coalition, she’s left with the ultimatum of conformity or villainy. “Villainous” #1 drops October 14th.

Following this is Christopher Sebela (“Crowded,” “Cold War”) and David Stoll’s (“Metaphorical HER”) new comic “Pantomime.” The series features colors by Dearbhla Kelly, and follows a group of kids who meet at the special needs boarding school, Wayfair Academy. The group, who are all deaf, eventually try their hands at burglary, and collectively discover the thrills and the dangers that a life of crime brings. “Pantomime” #1 hits shelves on November 4th.

Finally we have “Terminal Punks” from writer Matthew Erman (“Long Lost,” “Power Rangers”), artist Shelby Criswell (“The Nib”) and letterer Micah Myers. The book follows a punk rock band, whose commute to their first ever big gig is interrupted by the arrival of mutant animals. The book embraces counter-culture and its inherent satire of the rich. “Terminal Punks” #1 will be available November 11th.

This year’s Mad Cave talent search runs from the start of June to the start of September, and all submissions have to be set within the IP of an existing Mad Cave comic. The three best artists and three best writers will be chosen October 2nd on PREVIEWS World. They will then go on to be a part of the first ever Mad Cave anthology. Applicants should look here for details.

James Dowling

James Dowling is probably the last person on Earth who enjoyed the film Real Steel. He has other weird opinions about Hellboy, CHVRCHES, Squirrel Girl and the disappearance of Harold Holt. Follow him @James_Dow1ing on Twitter if you want to argue about Hugh Jackman's best film to date.
