Maggott Watch: Maggot Is A Poet

What, did you think we were kidding when we started a Maggott Watch article series? Because we weren’t.

In this week’s Wolverine and the X-Men, as all of the various hubbub dies down and things return to whatever passes for normal around those parts, the children gathered atop a hill to read some poetry, beginning with “An Ode To Eany and Meany” by none other than the wonderful poet, Japheth (aka Maggott). This marks the second joke made at Maggott’s expense in the first arc of the series alone, which makes one wonder just how much longer we’ll have to wait before the character shows up.

Of course, Jason Aaron has been quite adamant that Maggott will not be making an appearance in the title. Yet, at issue #3, we already have two mentions of the character that is seemingly otherwise irrelevant. Methinks the lad doth protest too much?

Stay tuned for more up to the second Maggott news as we get it.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
